Electric Car Wiring Explained

The electric car presents a different set of cabling. Unlike the conventional internal combustion engine, the electric car will need more wiring for its operation. This comes from the simple fact that it runs on batteries and the main connection to these devices is cables.

For the reason that it needs so much electric energy, the cabling system of the electric car will have to be more versatile and durable than the ordinary ones.

The cable for the electric car will have to be made from 2/0 cable. For it to work, it must have heavy duty strands. If they are too stiff, they will not work. For power to flow easily and consistently, the strands must be flexible. Many electric car conversion kits use the same type of wiring for welding. It has the ability to bend around corners and will not break easily.

It is essential that you use the right kind of cable for your electric car so you can be assured of power flow all the time.

Many companies are using the much standardized Anderson connector. These are can be specially made for the market. These cables can be easily separated and comes ready for use on the electric car. Ordinary you may have to purchase cables from the market and then modify then for use. Aside time wasting, these cables may not meet the standard required for high energy use. Again, they may not be able to round corners easily. Anderson cables come in plastic cases and cannot separate from each other to cause any a problem with polarity.
